Russ heads G.F. BUNTING+CO’s Southern California practice, whose clients are in business, education, government, sports, entertainment, nonprofits and high-profile family trusts and estates.

He consults with government agencies on legislation, public policy, the electorate, and with colleges and universities on academic affairs, legal action, messaging and media relations. Russ has worked with MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL franchises at every level – owners, general managers, front-office personnel, coaches, agents, players and their families– on player transactions, off-field issues, franchise relocation, and coaching, management and ownership transitions.

Clients also depend on Russ’s expertise in litigation support and crisis management, particularly when it comes to high-profile court cases and stories that attract widespread media attention.

Russ served as editor-in-chief of the Los Angeles Times from 2008 to 2011, where he led a rapid expansion of its online news report. During that time, The Times won three Pulitzer Prizes, including the Gold Medal for Public Service. After 30 years in newspapers, Russ ran the award-winning newsroom of 89.3 KPCC, expanding its broadcast, digital, mobile and live-events programming and audiences.
